1S51 Exeter to Bristol HST in 360º (View in 4K)
1S51 departs on time with the Plymouth to Glasgow service via Edinburgh Waverley from Exeter St Davids. In this section of the journey we travel between Exeter St Davids and Bristol Temple Meads, calling at Tiverton Parkway, Taunton and Bristol Temple Meads, passing Exeter Riverside Yard, the Barnstaple branch junction, Fairwater Yard, Cogload Junction and Bridgewater Nuclear Flask sidings.
1S51 Bristol to Cheltenham Spa HST in 360º (View in 4K)
On leaving Bristol Temple Meads, 1S51 makes its way to Bristol Parkway passing the infrastructure work to reinstate the quadruple track layout between Dr.Day's Junction and Filton Abbey Wood. You can also the preparation of the Great Western electrification project. 1S51 leaves the London bound line at Westerleigh junction and heads north, passing Standish Junction and Gloucester New Yard before arriving at its booked stop at Cheltenham Spa. 1S51 Cheltenham Spa to Birmingham New Street HST in 360º (View in 4K)
The biggest feature on this section of the journey has to be the infamous Lickey Incline! From the end of Bromsgrove station the line climbs at a steady 1 in 37.7 straight for exactly 2 miles and whilst not such a big deal for today's modern passenger traction, some freight stiils require a banking locomotive to help climb the bank. From Kings Norton, 1S51 gets caught behind local stopping services into Birmingham and after the series of tunnels after Fiveways station, the train emerges briefly into the daylight before being plunged into the darkness of Birmingham New Streets subterranean platforms.
1S51 Birmingham to Derby HST in 360º (View in 4K)
1S51 leaves the dark station platforms of Birmingham New Street on time and heads to the first booked stop at Tamworth. During this part of the journey, the train passes the site of the old Curzon Street station which is where the new HS2 station is to be located, as well as the Lawley container terminal and the large Washwood Heath freight sidings. A little later, and at speed we pass Bombardier's Central Rivers depot, specially built to repair and maintain the Class 220 Voyager and 221 Super Voyager train sets. After a brief stop at Tamworth we slowly approach Derby station. This was filmed in July 2018 and it was only a matter of weeks before Network Rail closed the station to traffic for 79 days to remodel the tracks and platforms. Preparation work for the closure is evident on the approach.
1S51 Darlington to Newcastle HST in 360º (View in 4K)
1S51 makes its way from just south of Darlington to Newcastle. In this section the train passes under the stunning station roofs of Darlington and Newcastle, over the viaducts of Durham, past Tyne Yard and finally over the stunning King Edward Bridge.
1S51 Newcastle to Edinburgh HST in 360º (View in 4K)
The final leg of 1s51s journey to Edinburgh. Leaving Newcastle station we soon pick up speed and pass a quiet Heaton traction maintenance depot which was housing a solitary class 91 set. 1S51 then negotiates the sharp curves of Morpeth station before joining the North Sea and the stunning approaches to Berwick Upon Tweed including the Royal Borders bridge immediately south of the station. On leaving the Berwick we stay with the coast passing over the border into Scotland, Torness nuclear power station and Oxewellmains Cement facility. After Prestonpans we pass Craigentinny depot and on into our final destination, Edinburgh Waverley.
1W01 Ledbury to Hereford in 360º (View in 4K)
The final section of 1W01's journey sees 43035 & 43156 travel through Ledbury tunnel and into Ledbury for the booked stop. After leaving the station the train travels over Ledbury viaduct giving stunning views of the countryside. At Shelwick Junction the train joins the mainline to Shrewsbury and Newport, a few minutes later 1W01 comes to a stand at Hereford station, on time. 1W01 Worcester to Great Malvern in 360º (View in 4K)
The penultimate leg of 1W01s journey to Hereford. Leaving under the semaphores of Worcester Shrub Hill and within a few minutes pauses at Worcester Foregate Street. Travelling over viaducts and bridges we leave Worcester passing over the River Severn and an HST awaiting our line. From there the journey cuts to the jointed section of track between Malvern Link and Great Malvern, a sound you will not be able to enjoy for long. After our booked stop at Great Malvern Station 1W01 enters the single track section for Ledbury.
